About Us

Building a movement where every girl can rise

A movement and organization dedicated to dismantling the barriers that keep girls from aiming for the stars from marginalization and lack of support, to the quiet internal battles they face alone. We believe every girl deserves the tools, community, and confidence to rise above her challenges, and the constant reminder that she can dream without limits. Because every girl deserves someone to fight for her.

Started by the daughters raised by single mothers, we know the effects of battles carried in silence. We’ve lived what happens when dreams are limited and lack of support becomes the baseline. Project Hooyo is our promise to the next generation that no dream is too small, too silly, or too out of reach. A place where girls are reminded they are seen, heard, and fully capable of becoming everything they imagine

When a girl has the tools, mentorship, and belief in her abilities, she doesn’t just change her own life but she changes the trajectory of her family, her community, and the generations after her. Every girl deserves the resources, network, and confidence to reach every single star, no matter her starting point.

To build a generation of girls who lead with resilience, protect their joy, and know their worth. Through community care, rooted support, and real opportunities, we’re proving that when you invest in a girl, you uplift a nation.

Meet Our Founder

Rahma Mire – Executive Director, Project Hooyo

My name is Rahma Mire and I am the daughter of a single mother and a believer in the power of community. Growing up I saw how much weight one woman could carry on her shoulders and how little support she received in return. That experience didn’t just shape me but it became the reason I’ve dedicated myself to standing with those who are marginalized, overlooked, or silenced. My why is simple: I want every girl to feel seen, safe, and supported. Because when you invest in girls, you don’t just change one life. You transform families. You change nations. You uproot generations of inequity. The future of our communities depends on how boldly we choose to uplift our daughters today. Project Hooyo is how we honor a mother’s strength, fight against inequities, and create the kind of space I once needed myself. This is more than a project. It is a movement to reimagine what’s possible when we put girls first. It’s about building futures for girls.
